Zwischen Essen und Leipzig.../ Between Essen and Leipzig,,,

Letzten Samstag, den 22. Oktober war ich auf der Comic-Action in Essen. Ich denke, dass die Initiative der Zeichner-Allee wirklich gut ist! Ich habe eine Menge nette Leute kennengelernt und darunter nicht nur Amateure, sondern ebenfalls professionelle ZeichnerInnen wie David Boller und Sarah Burrini. Die beiden waren sehr nett und haben mir gute Tipps gegeben. Die meiste Zeit auf der Messe habe ich in der Zeichner-Allee verbracht und habe Skizzen angefertigt und mein Portfolio den BesucherInnen gezeigt. Nächstes Jahr bin ich auf jeden fall wieder dabei. Vielen Dank!

Wieder zurück zu Hause arbeite ich gerade an einigen Skizzen für Dark Horse (die Ende des Monats wie immer unter "Comics" zu finden sein werden). Es sieht so aus, als habe sich jeder aufsteigende Comic-Zeichner an dem Script ausprobiert! Wenn ich diese Arbeit beendet habe, werde ich ein Projekt mit  Earthbound-Comics beginnen - es geht um das zweite Heft von "Villains". Die Jungs von Earthbound sind sehr nett und ich freue mich schon auf eine Zusammenarbeit!

Last Saturday, the 22nd of October I attended the Comic-Action in Essen. I think the intitiative of the Artist-Avenue is great! I met A LOT of nice people and I had the chance to meet not only good amateur drawings but also professionals like David Boller and Sarah Burrini. They were really kind and gave me good advice. I spent most of the time at the Artist-Avenue making sketches and showing my portfolio to the visitors. For sure next year I will be there again. Thank you very much!

Now back home I am working on the samples I want to send to Dark Horse. It seems EVERY aspiring comic drawer took a shot on it... Once I finish this I will start collaborating with Earthbound-Comics on the second issue of "Villains". The guys from Earthbound are really nice people and I am looking forward to collaborate with them!

Working

Ich arbeite, arbeite, arbeite... Außerdem funktioniert mein Auto endlich wieder!
Ich freue mich schon auf die Comic action in Essen. Leider scheint halb Deutschland derselben Meinung zu sein, weil es nicht ein billiges Zimmer mehr zu vermieten gibt. Darum werde ich wohl nur einen Tag - den 22. Oktober - hinfahren. Essen hat eine Zeichner-Allee, auf der ich ausstellen werde und hoffentlich einige Verlage für meine Arbeiten interessieren kann. Außerdem freue ich mich auf den Austausch mit anderen KünstlerInnen, die genauso wie ich versuchen, einen Job zu bekommen.

I am working, working, working... Plus, my car finally works again, too! I am looking forward of seeing the Comic Action in Essen. Unfortunately, it appears that half of Germany and Europe thinks so, too, because there's not any place to sleep left. We'll see, it looks like I will be attending only one day - 22nd of October. Essen has an Artist Alley, where I will exhibit and, hopefully, attract some interested publishers. Also I think it would be interesting to meet other drawers who are trying to make a living.
